UPS
Get negotiated shipping rates at checkout
Where to find it: Admin → Shipping → UPS carrier settings
When you'd use this: If you have a negotiated rates agreement with UPS, enable this setting to show your discounted rates to customers instead of standard published rates. This applies to both B2B and B2C stores.
What you need first:
- Active UPS account with negotiated rates enabled
- Production UPS API credentials (client ID and client secret)
- Your UPS account number
- Customer classification code (if applicable)
Set it up:
- Navigate to Admin → Shipping and select UPS as your carrier
- Enter your UPS credentials:
- Client ID
- Client secret
- Account number
- Customer classification code (if applicable)
- Enable the negotiated rates setting in your carrier configuration
- Save your configuration
- Test the connection by viewing shipping rates on a product or at checkout
Using it day-to-day:
The system automatically requests negotiated rates when calculating shipping costs. Your customers will see the discounted rates you've arranged with UPS at checkout. The system communicates with UPS production servers at https://onlinetools.ups.com to retrieve real-time shipping rates based on package dimensions, weight, origin, and destination.
Troubleshooting:
- Negotiated rates not appearing at checkout — Verify that your UPS account has negotiated rates enabled and that you've enabled the negotiated rates setting in your carrier configuration. Contact UPS if you're unsure whether your account includes negotiated rates.
- Cannot retrieve rates — Confirm your API credentials are for production use. UPS does not provide separate development credentials for the rating API.
